Flexibility and Patience

During my career, two key elements have come to define my approach, flexibility and patience.

Ive found through decades of experience, that a fixed, regimented course just doesn't get the job done. In addition, the tendency to do too much too quickly is a guaranteed path to disappointment.

There are many variables from one person to another. Hand size, how the guitar sits on your frame, how easily you can reach the keys of a piano, sense of rhythm, eyesight, and degree of natural musical ear are just a few things which vary across individual students.

To adress this issues, I cater each lesson to the unique needs and interests of the individual student. While l may recommend books and other tools, they are just that, tools. As we progress, that tool box will broaden to include whatever is needed, from hand written charts to web resources and print books.

SONGS

Yes, we absolutely incorporate songs. After all, for most, the whole allure of learning an instrument is to play our favorite songs. We will choose your songs based on a few factors:

-Your ability at the time

-Your interests

-What the song provides from an advancement perspective.

I'll often present songs in sections in order to focus on particular elements while establishing an approach you can utilize on your own going forward.
